And thus we see that the commandments of God must be fulfilled. And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth
nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them; 1 Nephi 17:3

Talk about Spirit!

June 17, 2019

Hello everybody! Thanks for tuning in this week!

My title literally just means I gave a talk about the Spirit on Sunday haha. Elder McHenry and I were both asked to speak on Sunday, so we did! It was pretty good! I talked about how we have the gift of the Holy Ghost, so we should use and listen to that and speak to our Father in Heaven through prayer and listen for His answers rather than crowdsourcing or going to youtube or some other somewhat unreliable source. If we get answers from God we will KNOW that that is the direction we should take in our lives.

This week I hit my 19 month mark, so that was cool. A couple other things that we did this week: We went to Wanda's house, this sweet black lady, and she was so excited because she has not been smoking for 4 weeks now! WOOHOO! I love it when people quit smoking on their own. We had a great lesson with her where we taught the Plan of Salvation and set a baptismal date with her! The only problem is she is scared of being baptized because her sister is a Pastor at the church she currently attends... She'll get there eventually though. We also had another lesson with Paul this week and his Brother and Niece were visiting from Carrollton, so we were able to teach them the Restoration and Paul was so excited that they were learning about it. They seemed willing to read the Book of Mormon and so hopefully when they go back to Carrollton they will be willing to meet with missionaries there! Man, I also love it when other people love the Gospel! Too bad this week everybody we are teaching was sick or out of town, so nobody was able to make it to church which is always disappointing, but hey, there's always next week.

Anyways, Happy Father's day to all you fathers out there! I just wanted to take a moment and talk about my dad real quick. I am SOOO grateful for my dad, Keith Ray! He is such a good example to me and cares so deeply for everybody in his life. He is a good example of what love is, and his respect for sacred things, the women in his life, his family, and everything else is incredible! I'm so grateful for everything he has done for me, teaching me how to work, to think, to act, to be kind, to stand up for what is right, to show others I love them through service, and also how to have fun and have a good laugh! I love my dad and would not trade him for any other!

I love you all and miss you! Hope all is well!

Love, Elder Ray
