And thus we see that the commandments of God must be fulfilled. And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth
nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them; 1 Nephi 17:3

Nah, we're Buddhist

Dear Everybody,

So this week was pretty good, full of work and fun! On Monday night it snowed a bunch so Tuesday we went and shoveled people's driveways for 4 hours in 10 degree weather. It was sweet! People wanted to pay us but we just shared a message with them instead! We had exchanges again this week so I went to Shelbyville with Elder McHenry and shoveled some more people's driveways. Our last district meeting for this transfer was this week so I brought some brownies and we took pictures, it was pretty fun! On exchange, the Spanish speaking sisters, the Hermanas, called us and asked if we could give some investigators a blessing, so we went over to give them blessings. When we got there we knocked on the door and someone opened the door and we asked if Donna, the person we were going to give the blessing to, was there. She said no... she said Donna didn't live here, so we started our spiel about the book of Mormon, and she said she didn't really know too much english. After a while of seeing if she was interested, everybody came put from hiding and started laughing. Apparently the person we were talking to was another missionary who was on exchange and we just didn't recognize her. The Hermanas got us good. On Friday we were tracting Stephen street, so that was pretty cool, and we knocked on a door and this big white buff guy came out with a pistol tucked in the front of his pants so we could see it, and he was like, "nah we're Buddhists, but you guys are awesome, thanks for coming around. He obviously wasn't Buddhist, but it was still pretty funny. Also kind of sad.

So right now we have a pretty good teaching pool, about 30 investigators and about 10 that have baptismal dates set. 5 of them, Gerry Ward and her two sons and Sarah and Brenda Ballinger, are super promising and should get baptized around the beginning of March! It is really awesome to see people I've come to love preparing to make covenants with God and be baptized into Jesus Christ's church. The Lord has blessed us with some pretty good success out here in Frankfort these past few weeks and hopefully the people we are teaching will come to a knowledge of the truth for themselves. I can't wait!

Love,
Elder Stephen Ray
