Hello everybody!
This week was pretty weird. On Monday we helped one of our investigators named David put up oxygen tubes around his house so he could breathe while he was at the computer, his bed, and the dinner table. It was pretty fun. It was actually warm on Tuesday and Wednesday so we rode our bikes most of those days. We're trying to reactivate a recent convert named Mike cinnamond who loves the principles that we teach but doesn't really have a testimony of the book of Mormon or the concept that only the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the priesthood authority. He loves us coming over to teach him and everything but says that he feels like God just wants him to meet other people right now. We had new missionary training on Thursday and that was fun. As of today I've successfully fulfilled two months of my mission. Just 22 left to go!
We were able to watch President Monson's funeral after district meeting on Friday and it was awesome! He was such a great man and he will be missed! So we had a pretty big ice and snow storm the other day and we had two lessons planned with Gerry and her family, and Bill. Everybody kept telling us not to go and to be safe and inside. But we went and we had two excellent lessons. Gerry and her family came to stake conference this Sunday and so did another investigator named Sarah who we haven't taught in about a month, except for last night when we set a baptism date with her. I think it was a little long for them to sit there for two hours but I think they got a lot out of it.
We were tracting out in the snow for a while and it was sooo cold! And 95% of the doors we knocked on either nobody opened or they all slammed the door in our faces. It was awesome! We then met two new investigators! It was worth it. Elder Mills and I are doing something called a 40 day sanctification fast where we list all the things that we aren't doing perfectly or that we do that keep us from being the best we can, and then we pray every day for strength to overcome those things and we strive to rid ourselves of those imperfections so that we can have the Holy Spirit with us more abundantly throughout our missionary work. We know we can't do this without the Holy Ghost! It's been a whole 4 days since we started and we can already see a difference.
I love you all and miss you!!
Love,
Elder Stephen Ray
