And thus we see that the commandments of God must be fulfilled. And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth
nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them; 1 Nephi 17:3

Arrival in Kentucky

December 18, 2017

Hello Y'all!

So I left for Kentucky from the MTC on Monday at 3:50 am. We took a plane to Chicago where we were late so we missed our next flight so our group had to split up. It was me, Elder Terry, and Sister Wall that had to fly to Houston before we could go to Kentucky because there was only enough room for 7 people to go straight to Kentucky and we had 10 in our group. That was exciting. We got to the mission home around 11 pm which means we were traveling for 21 hours. The next day I met my companion, Elder Mills, and he's a pretty good trainer. My first area is Frankfort, which is the Capital of Kentucky! We went back to the apartment and had an appointment that night where we taught a man named David and when we were teaching him there were so many things that went wrong. He brought up a contentious subject and right when he did that the dogs came out and started barking at him, and I know that we weren't the only ones trying to get David to listen to us... while teaching about the First Vision, David's phone rang which totally made the spirit leave as well. Thanks Satan. It's pretty hard and scary out on a mission where the adversary tries everything he can to stop you. But he only does that because this is the truth and he just wants to keep people from hearing it.

Apparently there was a murder about a month ago just 100 feet from where our apartment is so that's pretty neat. We got a referral to a guy named Dusty and so we went there and his family said he was down the road in a trailer, and that's where he was... drinking... with a 60+ year old, wasted preacher. We know he's a preacher because he told us at least 5 times, it was pretty funny. But we have a return appointment with Dusty and his family and he does really want to turn his life around. We also had a guy named Kevin flag us down and tell us he wanted to learn from us, which doesn't really happen here. Everybody here loves Jesus which is good, but they're all content with their own churches. Hopefully one day they'll be willing to learn the truth. We went to a community sing-along of Handel's the Messiah put on by the Bishop's wife and that was awesome!... from what we heard through the door at least, because we were the security lol.

That's about it. It feels so good here! It gets down to about 35-40 degrees every day and the high is around 55. I already miss the mountains tho lol.

I love you all and miss you!
