And thus we see that the commandments of God must be fulfilled. And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth
nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them; 1 Nephi 17:3

Goodbye Liberty

Dear Y'all,

This week has been 112% crazy. We had one of the area seventies, Elder Costa, and his wife come and speak to us at a mission tour in Louisville on Tuesday which was super awesome! They definitely changed my perspective on some things and gave me new ideas to better help the people here! Right after that I went on exchange with Elder Fossat and we had some super good lessons with Kevin and Amy throughout the day! We watched the restoration video with Kevin and with Amy we pretty much just answered her questions and by doing that, taught almost the whole plan of salvation to her. When we were about to leave she just said, "you guys give me hope." Elder Fossat also learned me how ta play some songs on the Ukelele so that was cool! Ima need to get me one of those!

Wednesday, Elder Crockett and I made brownies and took them to all the people we are teaching and sang Christmas carols to them! It was so much fun! On Thursday we went to the senior center as usual and served food, ate real quick, and then did the dishes. We went to go tell Cristy we were gonna head out and she was like, (paraphrasing) "Oh we were just talking about you! All good things! It's just amazing how respectful and disciplined you all are, and not just you two, all the missionaries that have come here. You set a very godly example to us!" Both she and the other person there, Whitney, were curious about how we were raised to be able to act like that, and so we were able to give them both copies of the book of Mormon (we gave Cristy one about 3 months ago) and I know that somewhere along the road, they will come to know and accept the restored gospel. It's amazing to see how just serving can help somebody recognize God's love.

Anyways, we got transfer calls on Saturday and apparently there are not enough missionaries to keep our area open, so Elder Crockett and I will both be leaving. I am super sad to leave this place, I only cried a little, and I hope that I will be able to come visit sometime again! We leave tomorrow morning and I will be going to Brandenburg, KY. I will also be district leader over 5 companionships (including me and my new companion Elder Goodwin) so wish me luck! We spent most of today visiting people we had been teaching and telling them the news and to just keep reading and learning until the next missionaries come, hopefully in February. Anyways, this week has been good and full of emotions and also miracles. I love you all and miss you and can't wait to talk to my family next week! Until then,

Love,
Elder Stephen Ray
